Barley is actually a forest elf. They may be small in stature, but they are very intelligent. They like to hide in haystacks because they are able to blend perfectly with the hay. To the untrained eye, these creatures are quite difficult to spot when they're hiding! Those who have traveled through the woods of the world have often spoke of hearing laughter in the trees. They say this is the Barleys of the forest laughing somewhere out of sight.
